These smiles tell a story that words alone cannot. On 22 July 2026, refugee women entrepreneurs in Palorinya Refugee Settlement celebrated the establishment of the βDoor of Opportunitiesβ Palorinya Refugee Settlement Women Entrepreneurs Platform (WEP), facilitated by NUWEBIZ Foundation as an implementing partner of the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) Project. The GROW Project is an initiative of the Government of Uganda, implemented through the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD) with support from the World Bank.
Elected through a transparent democratic process, these women were entrusted by their fellow entrepreneurs to lead with integrity, unity, and purpose. Their joy reflects more than winning an election β it reflects the beginning of a new chapter where women stand together, support one another, and believe in what they can achieve as a community.
As leaders of the βDoor of Opportunitiesβ Palorinya Refugee Settlement Women Entrepreneurs Platform, they will inspire other women to grow their businesses, encourage collaboration, share knowledge, and open doors for more women to access opportunities and build sustainable livelihoods. Today they celebrate a new responsibility. Tomorrow, they have the potential to become successful business leaders, role models, and changemakers whose impact will be felt not only across Palorinya Refugee Settlement but throughout Uganda.
Every smile captured that day is a reminder that when women are trusted to lead, they create opportunities that transform families, strengthen communities, and shape a brighter future for generations to come.
