Beyond the Festival: NUWEBIZ Brings GROW Project Opportunities to Tepeth Women Entrepreneurs in Moroto

Moroto, Uganda | 9 September 2026
As Moroto hosts the 11th Edition of the Karamoja Cultural Event from 6–12 September 2026 at the Naitakwae Sports Complex (Moroto Boma Grounds), NUWEBIZ Foundation is using the platform to bring women’s enterprise-development opportunities closer to underserved communities.
On 9 September 2026, the NUWEBIZ Foundation team is in Moroto undertaking the registration and profiling of Tepeth community women entrepreneurs as part of its implementation of GROW Project Component 1A , Women Empowerment and Enterprise Development Services.

The annual cultural event, held under the theme β€œUnity in Culture, Strength in Peace, Prosperity through Tourism and Natural Resources,” brings together communities from across Karamoja and the wider Ateker cluster, including communities from Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia. Beyond celebrating and preserving cultural heritage, the event provides an important platform for peacebuilding, social cohesion, tourism and socioeconomic transformation.

For NUWEBIZ, the engagement presents an opportunity to connect this broader vision with women’s economic empowerment. Through registration and profiling, the team is identifying women entrepreneurs, understanding their businesses and enterprise needs, and establishing a stronger foundation for linking them to relevant opportunities and services under GROW Component 1A.
The exercise forms part of NUWEBIZ Foundation’s wider effort to decentralise GROW services to the community level, ensuring that women entrepreneurs particularly those in underserved and hard-to-reach communities are not left behind.

Through its Women Entrepreneurship Platforms (WEPs) and community mobilisation approach, NUWEBIZ is strengthening networks that can connect women entrepreneurs with information, enterprise-development services, markets, finance, business networks and other opportunities.
In Karamoja, this broader mobilisation effort targets 9,000 women entrepreneurs across the region approximately 1,000 in each of the nine districts.

The engagement in Moroto also reflects the potential of women-led enterprises to contribute to Karamoja’s economic future, particularly through tourism, cultural products, trade, hospitality and other enterprises linked to the region’s cultural and natural resources.
By taking GROW Component 1A directly into communities, NUWEBIZ Foundation continues to put women entrepreneurs at the centre of inclusive economic development one woman, one enterprise and one community at a time.
