Support for STR Implementation

Simplified Trade Regime awareness and compliance support for small-scale women cross-border traders.

Objectives

  • To promote formal, safe, and inclusive cross-border trade for women and youth entrepreneurs.
  • To improve awareness and access to simplified trade procedures, documentation, and market information.
  • To reduce barriers limiting small-scale traders' participation in regional markets.

Activities

  • Conducted awareness and capacity-building initiatives on STR and formal trade processes.
  • Engaged government agencies, border authorities, and trade stakeholders to improve trader support systems.
  • Supported women and youth traders at Malaba–Busia and Elegu–Nimule border points through access to trade information and guidance.

Outcomes

  • Increased awareness and adoption of simplified trade procedures among small-scale traders.
  • Improved capacity of women and youth entrepreneurs to participate in formal cross-border trade.
  • Strengthened collaboration between traders, institutions, and border stakeholders for inclusive regional trade.
